How To Reprogram Your ECU

The purpose of this tech article is to show you how to reprogram the ECU to give you better gas mileage after an upgrade.

After you get a performance upgrade (i.e. Headers, Exhaust, Intake, Etc.) follow the following steps to reprogram your computer. Turn on the car and warm it up. Make sure that it’s running at its normal idle. Next, turn off the car and pull your ECU fuse located in the fuse box under the hood. Keep the fuse out for at least 5 minutes, then plug the fuse back in and close the hood. Start your car making sure NOT TO TOUCH THE GAS WHEN YOU START IT UP!! Let the car idle at its normal idle speed for about 3-4 minutes, then shut off car and restart once again.

That’s it! Your ECU is programmed to give the proper air and fuel mixture for your upgrades. By taking out the fuse you kill all power to your computer and resetting the "program" that gives the mixture. Now by not touching the gas as you fire it back up, it will reprogram itself to give you the best MPH as it can.
